Agile Social Media & Digital Economy 2011As if I didn't have enough on my plate, I've somehow ended up organising this year's Agile Social Media & Digital Economy conference.
It's being held again in Redditch, the centre of social media and digital creative industries here in the UK, and I'm busying myself pinning down the speakers. So far, confirmed are Race Online champion, Martha Lane-Fox, BBC tech doyen Rory Cellan-Jones, Gadget Show presenter Ortis Deley, twitteramus Jonathan Ross, science commentator Ben Goldacre, and national treasure and lover of all things tech, Anne Widdecombe MP. We'll also be joined by shadow cabinet minister Ed Balls and there'll be live performances by uber-geeks Orbital and 80's synth-pop legends Heaven 17.
As regular readers will know, I'm a keen advocate of our government's digital strategy, and - while it's going to be a lot of work - I'm thrilled to get this chance to showcase the enormous contribution made to the UK economy by this hugely undervalued industry sector that's been so criminally overlooked by our mainstream media.
