Let Me Through, I'm A Software Engineer!

A software engineer is having dinner in a fancy restaurant one evening, when a diner on an adjacent table starts to choke on a piece of chicken bone.

With an impressive air of authority, the engineer exclaims "let me through, I'm an expert" and the crowd of concerned people that had gathered around the choking diner dispersed to let him see.

For about a minute, the engineer carefully examines the poor man - umm-ing and arrh-ing - as he gradually starts to turn a worrying shade of purple.

Eventually, with a triumphant air of smugness, the engineer delivers his verdict:

"You see, what you've done here is you've got one hole for eating AND breathing. What you want to do is have two separate holes, each with a distinct function."
