Ruby On Rails Is The New SmallTalkI hear the message coming through loud and clear from the literally dozens of people who say that Ruby On Rails is the next big thing, and that Java is the new COBOL. (God, Java is, like, so December 13th 2005. GET WITH THE PROGRAM, DUDE!) I couldn't agree more. I, too, want to spread the good news.
My project was behind schedule, quality was poor, none of us had seen so much as an artist's impression of the customer yet, and half the team couldn't program their way out of a wet paper bag.
Thank God for Ruby On Rails! No sooner had we installed it when we suddenly found that we had travelled back in time and had plenty of slack to go and fix all our bugs and get the project back on track. Not that we needed to, because Ruby fixed all the bugs for us. And not only had we travelled backwards in time, but we had also been transported to an alternate universe where all the developers knew what they were doing and the customer devoted her entire time to working with the team. She even baked us cookies.
The only other time I can recall a programming language doing this much for a development team was when SmallTalk cured all known diseases and brought peace on Earth and goodwill to all men...
