For The Last Time - Waterfall Doesn't Work !
Yet again I've seen a "process consultant" offer their client a choice between iterative and waterfall development, suggesting that waterfall may be more appropriate under certain circumstances.Yes, I can imagine there are times when it's more appropriate to get less feedback less often and to massively increase the risk of project failure. I imagine there are also times when it makes total sense to dress in your mother's underwear, put a bucket on your head and attempt a military coup armed only with tupperware.
I'll concede there are times when iterative development might not be possible for organisational or (more likely) cultural reasons, but there's a world of difference between "couldn't" and "shouldn't".
